About Tatjana Raum
Born in Nürnberg on February 3, 1971, Tatjana Raum currently lives and creates her art in south of germany close to Rosenheim (Chiemgau). Originally trained as a photographic laboratory technician, she used her camera to capture striking portraits of people during extended travels through Greece, Israel, and the Sinai. She later worked as a freelance designer and trader in Nepal, Thailand, and across Europe. Since 2008, she has been practicing as an independent artist, having trained under sculptor Bärbel Dieckmann. Initially, Tatjana Raum focused on making miniature art dolls, specializing in the fantasy genre. During this period, she experimented with a wide variety of materials to create highly realistic scenes. Due to an adverse reaction to polymer clay, she had to move away from the medium, which ultimately led her to discover new avenues of artistic expression in natural clay. Today, the rich experiences from her doll-making days infuse her contemporary sculptures with a uniquely expressive, soulful quality. Through her art, Tatjana Raum seeks to counter the world’s hardships with beauty and hope. Her work serves as a plea for a harmonious symbiosis between humanity and nature, aiming to make this deep connection visible. Above all, she ensures that the inherent magic of the world is never lost in her art.
